We Need More Space
As we have made progress building the sidewalks to frame out our curling ice, we wanted to address a bigger issue. Our warm room is going to be small, and we will have a limited amount of space to be able to watch curling. So, we came up with an idea. There is a 25-foot by 20-foot space that is adjacent to our warm room that will be vacant for at least the first year due to budget. Coincidentally, in order to be able to get onto the ice, you will have to walk through this space, so there is a need to carpet the space to prevent tracking concrete dust onto the ice.
This led to a brainstorm, put some furniture in the space to create a cold room viewing area. Fortunately for the club, we have some excellent woodworkers, as well as an amazing amount of woodworking equipment. So, a plan was put together to create a 20-foot-long, handmade, custom built bar. Below you will find some progress photos of building a high-end piece of custom-built furniture. We feel that this might ultimately transition from an afterthought to a crown jewel of the club (Full disclaimer, as I am one of the people who am building this, I might have an overly high view of this bar and area).
So we framed up and built the start of the bar
From there we built the custom wood furniture. This started with Chris planing some boards for the bar top.

Then we started to put things together
