Do We Need An E-Ceiling?
First, you might want to know what e-ceiling is. If you ever go into a curling rink or hockey rink and see the silver foil on the ceiling, that is e-ceiling. Think of it like a giant mylar space blanket that you sometimes see in a survival kit, or given to people after they run marathons. This acts as a layer of insulation against radiated heat.
There was a big debate about if we needed an e-ceiling in our club. Well I guess the debate was could we afford to install an e-ceiling. The normal way in which this e-ceiling would be installed would be to run stainless steel cable across the top of the walls, and then run the e-ceiling rolls on top of the wires. For our club, there were a bunch of hanging obstacles, such as heaters and gas lines in the warehouse, so this made things complicated. We would need to put a lot of time and money to address all of these things.
But then an idea popped up. Our ceiling already had steel beams along the roof. What if we bought a bunch of small magnets, and simply stuck the e-ceiling to the beams. This would be a cheaper cost of materials versus using steel cables, plus we would not have to move any heaters or gas lines. And so it began.
