The Club Catches A Break

After being stuck in limbo for quite some time, the 2018 Olympics brought us our first break.  Team Shuster energized curling across people across the country, and we were able to leverage this into a large amount of Learn to Curl attendees.  We also managed to negotiate the use of some ice at an outdoor ice rink owned by a city.  Because this rink was at a brand-new park that the city was trying to promote, we managed to get a great deal on ice time.

With both things combined, we managed to save our first significant amount of money, and for the first time we have more than a couple thousand dollars in our coffers.  Still no where near enough to actually build a club, heck we couldn’t even but 2 sets of new rocks with the money that was our “break” but it was our first baby step.  It was the push that truly got the ball rolling down the hill, picking up some momentum
